Terps fail to win an easy one

The Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball team has started off the season in non-conference play by winning 13 out of 15 games versus teams that will not have a chance at going to the NCAA tournament. They entered last night’s game 0-1 in conference play. The opposition tonight ACC pushover the Miami Hurricanes. The Terps played down to Miami’s all over the place style of basketball. The starters for Maryland went a combined 9-for-47 from the floor. Greivis Vasquez was 1-for-11, James Gist went 3-for-12 and Mike Jones missed 8-of-11 tries. The way Maryland played made it appear that they, again, would be NIT bound again. The Hurricanes (9-8, 2-1 ACC) compiled statistics that don't often result in a win: 31 percent shooting, 15 turnovers and a mere seven assists yet somehow found a way to beat the 25th ranked Terps.
